All About Spelling is the companion program to All About Reading, using the same Orton-Gillingham-based, multi-sensory approach to teach spelling systematically. Students use letter tiles to physically build words, reinforcing letter-sound connections through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic channels simultaneously.

The program is organized into seven levels, each building on the previous one. Instruction is scripted and teacher-led · the parent reads from the teacher's manual and guides the student through activities. A typical lesson includes review of previous concepts, introduction of new phonograms or spelling rules, and hands-on word-building practice.

What to Know

All About Spelling is particularly valued by homeschool families with dyslexic or struggling learners, though it works well for any student. The mastery-based progression means students don't advance until they've truly learned each concept. It includes dictation exercises, word banks, and a systematic approach to spelling rules that gives students tools for spelling unfamiliar words.

Levels cost approximately $25–$40 each. The basic interactive kit (letter tiles, magnets, and phonogram cards) is a one-time purchase that works across all levels. A number of families use All About Spelling alongside All About Reading for a complete phonics and literacy program.
