Gifted/AdvancedConceptualHands-On

Berean Builders represents Dr. Jay Wile's latest science curriculum, written after he departed from Apologia (which he originally founded). The elementary series — Science in the Beginning, Science in the Ancient World, and subsequent volumes — teaches science concepts in the historical order they were discovered, organized around the days of creation in Genesis.

What sets Berean Builders apart is Dr. Wile's intellectual honesty and scientific rigor. He doesn't shy away from complex topics or oversimplify for the sake of a predetermined conclusion. The courses are written to develop genuine scientific thinking — observation, hypothesis, experimentation, and analysis — within a Christian framework.

What to Know

The elementary courses are designed for multiple ages simultaneously: each lesson includes activities for younger students, older students, and advanced extensions. High school courses (covering biology, chemistry, physics, and advanced topics) are written at a genuinely college-preparatory level. Many students enter college with AP-equivalent knowledge.

Courses typically cost $40–$90 per book, with experiment supply lists using mostly household items. The curriculum is teacher-led for elementary and largely self-directed for high school. Dr. Wile maintains an active blog and personally responds to questions from families using his materials.
