Two manipulative-heavy math programs with very different philosophies. Math-U-See uses colored blocks to represent place value and operations, with video instruction from Steve Demme. RightStart uses an AL Abacus to build visualization skills, with scripted parent-led lessons.
Math-U-See is more independent: students watch the video and work through their pages. RightStart requires significant parent involvement for every lesson. Math-U-See follows a mastery approach within each level. RightStart builds skills through games and activities that develop number sense over time.
