Reflex Math (by ExploreLearning, also available as Time4MathFacts) is a game-based adaptive program designed to make math fact practice genuinely fun. Students play a variety of games that require quick mental math, and the system continuously adjusts difficulty based on which facts the student has mastered and which need more practice.

The program is research-backed and widely used in schools. The adaptive algorithm is its greatest strength: it presents facts at just the right level of challenge to build fluency without frustration. Students earn virtual rewards and tokens that keep them motivated to return daily.

What to Know

Reflex is designed as a 2–3 times per week supplement, with each session taking about 15–20 minutes. It covers all four basic operations and includes a fractions module. The parent dashboard shows exactly which facts have been mastered and which are still developing.

At $35/year per student, Reflex is a modest investment for a significant quality-of-life improvement in daily math. Families who find XtraMath too austere or whose children resist drill-style practice often find that Reflex's game-based approach gets the same results with less resistance.
