All-in-One · Traditional · Hybrid · Secular
Calvert Homeschool has been providing structured home education for over a century, making it one of the oldest names in American homeschooling. The program covers all core subjects from PreK through 12th grade with a combination of online lessons and printed materials.
The curriculum follows a traditional, standards-aligned approach. For grades K-2, Calvert offers print-based worktexts with teacher guides. For grades 3-12, the program is primarily online with interactive lessons, quizzes, and automated grading. Parents receive detailed lesson plans and can track progress through an online portal.
Pricing varies by format. The online family subscription runs approximately $40/month for up to 3 students. Individual print courses and complete grade packages are also available at higher price points. Calvert Academy, their accredited online school option, runs $1,500-4,000+ per year and includes certified teacher support and official transcripts.
Calvert is secular and does not include religious content. It works best for families who want a highly structured, low-prep program where the student can work relatively independently. The trade-off is less flexibility compared to eclectic or Charlotte Mason approaches, and the cost is higher than many alternatives.
